Setting the Initialization String in Windows 95/98

 

In Windows 95/98, access the modem properties using:

1. Start - Settings - Control Panel - Modems (double click)

2. Select your modem and click properties

3. Click "Connection" at the top of the properties screen

4. Click "Advanced" at the bottom of the connection screen

5. In "Extra settings, type the new initialization string

6. Close all of the screens:

        a. Click OK to close the Advanced screen

        b. Click OK to close the Connection screen

        c. Click Close to close the Modem properties
