Internet Connection Wizard: This is an automatic method of setting up your connection to kay-net. These directions can also be found at: ManSetup.htm
Requirements: Computer with Windows 95/98, Internet Explorer, modem, phone line. You might also need your Windows 95 / 98 CD (or disks)
1. Start the Internet Connection Wizard using one of these methods:
. Start Programs Accessories Internet Connection Wizard
. Start Programs Internet Explorer Connection Wizard
. There may be an icon on your desktop called something like "Connect To The Internet". Double Click this icon to start the Internet Connection Wizard.
D. Using Start Find File , search for this file:
Named: ICWCONN1.EXE
Look in: Local Hard Drive(s) (or C: or D:, etc)
Double click the file to start the Internet Connection Wizard.
2. Select "I have an existing account " then click "Next":
The Internet Connection Wizard looks like this:
3. Choose: "Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet Service Provider or a local area network (LAN)."
Click "Next"
4. Set Up Your Internet Connection Choose: "Connect using my phone line."
Click "Next"
5. Dial-Up Connection Choose: "Create a new dial-up connection."
Click "Next"
6. Phone Number Enter an area code and phone number using the list you have been provided. If you do not have a list of numbers, check accessno.htm or call 661-723-0266 and well provide you with an access number.
Click "Next"
7. User Name and Password Enter your Dial-Up User name and password that have been provided to you. (Example kay0000@usa) Note: This is not your e-mail name. If you do not know your Dial-Up User name and password, call 661-723-0266 and we will immediately mail the info to your billing address..
Click "Next"
8. Advanced Settings Choose: "Yes"
Click "Next"
9. Connection Type Choose: "PPP (Point to Point Protocol)"
Click "Next"
10. Logon Procedure Choose: "I dont need to type anything when logging on"
Click "Next"
11. IP Address Choose: "My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one"
Click "Next"
12. DNS Server Addresses Choose: "Always use the following"
- For DNS Server, type in: 204.178.185.5
- For Alternate (or Secondary) DNS Server, type in: 204.178.185.105
Double check these numbers!
Click "Next"
13. Dial-up Connection Name Type in: kay-net
Click "Next"
14. Set Up Your Internet Mail Account Choose: "Yes"
Click "Next"
15. Internet Mail Account Choose: "Create a new Internet mail account"
Click "Next"
16. Confirm Settings Import You might not see this screen, but if you do, choose: "No"
Click "Next"
17. Your Name Most people type in their first and last names here but you can use a nickname if thats what you want to appear (example: kay-net Support).
Click "Next"
18. Internet E-mail address Enter the Primary E-mail address that has been provided in your Intro letter. (Example: support@kay-net.com) You can change this later, if you wish. Youll be able to add other e-mail names later, too. If you did not receive an Intro letter or a Primary E-mail address in the Intro letter, call 661-723-0266 and we will immediately mail the info to your billing address.
Click "Next"
19. E-mail Server Names Follow these steps:
- Using the drop-down list, make sure POP3 is selected
- For "Incoming mail server", enter: pop.kay-net.com
- For "Outgoing mail server", enter: smtp.kay-net.com
Click "Next"
20. Internet Mail Logon Follow these steps:
Click "Next"
21. Friendly Name Choose a name that describes this particular e-mail account (Example: kay-net Mail
Click "Next"
22. Set up your Internet newsgroup account If you wish to participate in newsgroups, click "Yes" and then Click "Next"
Otherwise, click "No", click "Next" and then skip to step number 27.
23. Your Name Enter your name as you want it to appear in the newsgroups.
Click "Next"
24. Internet News E-mail Address Enter the e-mail address that you entered in step 18.
Click "Next"
25. Internet News Server Name
Click "Next"
26. Friendly Name Enter a name that describes this particular newsgroup account.
Click "Next"
27. Set up your Internet Directory Service This service does not apply to kay-net.
Choose "No" then click "Next"
28. Complete Configuration Click "Finish"
